Microsoft Windows Installer

Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) is a central application programming interface and component of Microsoft Windows utilized for the installation, configuration, and removal of hardware and software. This facilitates smooth, automated operation and reduces training costs. It can be integrated with the newer Microsoft products such as Windows Vista, operating systems, Microsoft Office products, and Microsoft Windows Mobile applications. The advantage of using Windows Installer for installing and removing Microsoft products is that it can be incorporated with existing platforms and can be run from the Windows installation disk, CD-ROM, or flash memory. No need to install and uninstall Microsoft products on each computer system, just one click and the whole system is updated.

Microsoft Windows Installer helps users efficiently manage the various components of Microsoft Windows and prevent setup complications. Microsoft Windows Setup will install all necessary components of Microsoft Windows such as language and region settings, product key, product warranty, Windows Platform version, and more. Once the Windows Installer has been installed, all subsequent setup processes will automatically be managed by the Windows Installer. Windows setup also handles the installation of Microsoft Windows products such as Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

Users can install, reconfigure, and remove Microsoft Windows Installer through the Microsoft Windows Setup tool. To start the Microsoft Windows Installer, first open the Start Menu on the desktop and click Run. Then enter "msconfig" in the field given blank. In the" Startup Type" section, choose the "Automatic" option and click OK. A window will display on the screen and the Microsoft Windows Installer will be successfully installed. Remove the newly installed Microsoft Windows Installer by clicking on the "Remove" button located on the setup menu.
